The workaround has now been merged into the develop branches of the SDK and picotool, so if you build your binary again using the develop SDK and picotool then it should bootI admit i haven't read much of the above discussion about thermometers, however on the original topic, it does seem you have found a shiny new side effect of RP2350-E13. It is dependent on the layout of the binary somewhat which is why it didn't hit us.
a workaround (requires both sdk and picotool changes) will be forthcoming, but the good news is that the device should not be bricked.
