Right now i'm not considering embedded words. I'm not expecting to encounter that but if it became a problem i'd probably add a leading and trailing space to each key string then trim them off after I had them in the final variable form.
FYI I assume this is obvious but this is s SSCE of an issue on a much larger dataset. I'm parsing data scraped from several websites. While there are 25 key strings or so they are pretty consistent. Likewise for capitalisation if it became an issue i'd convert it to lower case before doing the comparison.
