So, I tried your suggestion and am now working on it sending the codes properly and also getting it longer range (the brightness is super faint compared to a remote controller), but the IR LED does flash. So thanks for the tip!Ignoring the duplicate post viewtopic.php?t=389690, some years ago I gave up using a Pi for the IR transmitter. Instead I use a Pi to send mqtt messages to an esp8266 that has the IR transmitter (uses IRremoteESP8266 library). All fine.
