Troubleshooting • Re: Brand new install corrupted on update

Is there a problem with 12/5/2025 64bit Trixie release file for RPI3B+?

I am installing 64bit Trixie to multiple RPI3B+ units and multiple SD cards (new).
With the 12/5/2025 release using RPI Imager v2.0.1 on an RPI3B+, I find the following problems.
1. After first boot - there is repository corruption reported on the first OS update - apt update.
Reading Package Lists... Error!
E: Unable to parse package file /var/lib/apt/lists/deb.debian.org_debian-security_dists_trixie-security_non-free-firmware_i18n_Translation-en (1)
W: You may want to run apt-get update to correct these problems
E: The package cache file is corrupt
run apt-get update does not correct the problem. Error repeats

2. using nano to open /boot/firmware/cmdline.txt shows binary data, not text
