By a huge coincidence I downloaded every Android sound level app I could find on Play Store onto my Samsung phone a few weeks ago. The difference between the apps alone is up to 12dB, and the errors varied with frequency so you couldn't just add a correction to each app.@MikeDB will probably know more about mobile phone accuracies?
None of them were even remotely close to my B&K meter at all frequencies, a few just getting close at 1kHz.
So if anybody finds a local government noise abatement official trying to close down a disco or bar for excessive noise using their phone rather than a proper meter, please let me know !
