I've also got a very large jumbled up box of spare cables. And whenever I pull out a micro-USB cable, half the time it's dead so goes in the bin.I do not understand why anyone would want USB-C on a standard-speed, standard-power device.

I've let to see a dead USB-C cable, although we do have an oddity in one of our cars where my phone will only put the phone's sat-nav up on the display using one USB-C cable, whereas my wife's phone needs a different USB-C cable. Still to suss this one out.
